My Review

This is a coming out story of grand proportion.

Kendall is a A-List actress. She has been acting from a very young age and although fame has influenced her she seems to still have her feet on the ground. That is until she head to her home town for a visit and her best friend tells her she’s gay. She starts to question everything! Why did Payton keep this a secret? And why does she all of sudden see Payton differently? Has she always been attracted to Payton?

Payton on the other hand has always known she’s head over heels in love with Kendall. She’s knows the love is unrequited and she’s happy to love Kendall from afar… That is until Kendall asks her to Move to L.A to live with her. Can she really live under the same roof as the woman she’s deeply in love with and can’t have?

This is a great book and the first YA novel I’ve read. The book is written from both protagonists POV which was handled well and gave more insight into their feelings. These woman are clearly meant to be together from day one. Their relationship is already built on solid friendship foundation but when you add romance it always gets a little tricky.

I was surprised this is the first and only novel from Kristen Zimmer. It was written so well. The dialogue between Payton and Kendall was hilarious at times, check out the quote below for two very good examples!

First Class Novel. 5 stars
Quotes of the book:

First quote is one that cracks me up. The background is that Lauren (a potential love interest for Payton) is fawning all over Payton and Kendall reaction is hilarious!

“I think you’d look amazing in Vincenzo Montebello,” Lauren remarks. “What do you think, Kendall?” I think you should drop it before I sink my claws into your pretty little neck and rip your tongue out through the gashes. Say what now? No! Kendall, for real, what the hell is wrong with you? I lean back in my chair, fold my arms, and fake the most undaunted expression that my facial muscles can form. “I think she’d look amazing in anything to be honest.”

And the second quote of the book: Kendall is little nervous about having sex with a woman…

When I can finally breathe normally, I flip on top of her. All my weight is on her and I’m kissing her hard, like before. All of a sudden I get stupid anxious. I have the most extreme longing to make her feel as magnificent as I do, but what if I can’t do it right? What if I’m seriously bad at it? What if there are rules like in playing sports? I don’t understand sports! I fucking suck at sports! The moment before the panic alarm in my brain goes off, Payton stirs. “Hey, it’s okay,” she says, almost as if she has absorbed my thoughts via osmosis. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.” She sounds so incredibly earnest, it completely renews my determination. I’m gonna do this like a boss!
