Captain’s Choice by VK Powell

Sizzling chemistry!!

What was the book about?
Police Captain, Bennett Carlyle, has been assigned the upgrade of the new district substation. She has to work closely with the architect, Kerstin Anthony. Kerstin and Bennett have a history, and both have never gotten over the kiss they shared when they were teenagers.

Now Bennett sees it as an opportunity for them to rekindle what they had, but Kerstin wants to get the job done and leave. She isn’t interested in a relationship, especially with Bennett, who has the ability to break her heart all over again.

Featured Tropes:
Second Chance, Cops

Book Strengths:
I enjoyed the character development in this book, especially with Kerstin. She changed slowly throughout the book, and by the end, she was my favourite character. I started this book knowing it was a series, and I liked getting to know the secondary characters as I knew I would be spending more time with them in the other books.

Book weaknesses:
It took me a little longer to get into this book. I felt the pace at the beginning was slow, but by 50% I was really into it and the second half breezed by.

Character Chemistry:
The chemistry between Kerstin and Bennett was not in short supply. In fact, the sex scenes in this book where extraordinarily sexy, and in a way I was not expecting.

Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

I really enjoyed this book. Between the chemistry and the excellent Epilogue, I really loved it by the end.

Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
