Letter of the Law by Carsen Taite

Crime, Cartels and amazing women

What was the book about?
This is the third book in the Lone Star Law Series and although you could read it on its own it is definitely better if you read the two books before it – Lay Down the Law and Above the Law.

Bianca Cruz is a federal prosecutor and has a young daughter Emma. Bianca is part of a small but effective group of women who are trying to solve a murder and also bring down a major crime syndicate. Into this mix comes Jade Vargas, to whom family is burden and it doesn’t help when her two uncles are in control of a major drug cartel. Sparks fly when Bianca and Jade meet, but suspicions on both sides create problems. Can they overcome the pitfalls, that’s something you will have to find out when you read the book.

Featured Tropes:  Enemies to lovers, suspense, crime

Book Strengths:
I am a fan of Carsen Taite’s ability to weave a story and this book is full of suspense and romance.

All of the characters are well written and have depth to them that you feel you know them. There is a lightness about Bianca but a strength as well. Jade is surrounded by the darkness of her family’s legacy and shows her vulnerability. In the end when you combine Carsen Taite, romance and crime it is always a brilliant read!

Character Chemistry:
I love the dynamic between Jade and Bianca. Hot!
The way they cope getting through the maze of danger as well as attraction is wonderful.

Heat Rating:  4.5

Wrap up:
To read about strong women solving crime, being involved in risky investigations and a burning romance is nothing short of fantastic.

Star Rating: 5
