This was the best thing since Greengage Jam!

What was the book about?
So Kit’s still adjusting to living life in Greengage but she’s back in detective librarian mode to help solve the mystery of Alice Caine’s missing book! Of course this isn’t the only mystery on the vivacious island of Greengage and it isn’t the only worry for our lovely Kit. Relationship worries with the lovely Laura also have Kit on her toes.

Featured Tropes
Comedy Romance, Small Town

Book Strengths
I was already in love with the quirky island of Greengage, and Kit Sorel, after reading the first book in this series, but now after book two, I know I love it so much more! Kit is amazing and she makes the whole story for me, but what was even better was all the thrill of the mystery. I mean how can one tiny little English island be filled with such puzzling problems? Luckily, Kit’s a great detective, and her sleuthing creates and exciting story that had me gripped from the second we got our first tidbit of information.

Emma has an amazing way of combining a quirky sense of humour, with idioms only such unique and memorable characters could possess. It’s also that quick wit, sarcasm, and attitude of Kit’s that just makes the story so loveable, she is sceptic, yet filled with positivity and a can do attitude that really cheers you up as a reader and has you laughing at her mutterings, thoughts, and straight to the point nature.

It’s also the silliness and quirky items and ideas that crop up in the storyline, whether they be part of the main plot or sub-plots, they just make the story such fun; and a total joy to read.

Book weaknesses
As if there would be anything about this book I didn’t like, totally impossible. Loved every second and dying for more from Greengage now!!!

Character Chemistry
Kit and Laura have such a great relationship. They fit together like puzzle pieces, complement each other perfectly, and are both unique in their own way. The love I see between them is well balanced between romance, and banter, even if Laura doesn’t always get when Kit is joking around, but that is what makes them so endearing. In fact they very much remind me of a two people I very much admire (I think you know who I mean!), and I love them for it!

Conclusion
Couldn’t put this down, once I started I needed to get to the bottom of this mystery – come on, I mean Kit needed my help, how could I refuse. When you get a book like this you really never want it to end, and I mean this was totally amazing! Can’t wait for more stories from the island of Greengage!

Packed with drama!

What was the book about?:
Andi and Dawn are instantly attracted to one another when they meet on their travels abroad, they hit it off, and decide that they would like to keep seeing one another, but there is a problem! Dawn’s best friend has feelings for her, and has for some time. These feelings often lead to heartbreak for Dawn and she has a lot to deal with if she is truly going to find happiness this time with Andi.

Featured Tropes: Holiday Romance, Novella

Book Strengths:
I loved the fast pace of this novella. It kept the excitement and the drama of the building tense situation unfolding in this unconventional love triangle with Andi, Dawn and Tess. Obsession played a big part in this plot and created all the drama and intensity when getting to know the characters and their situation. The first person narrative also largely helped with getting a quick insight into the characters thoughts and feelings, from both Andi, and Dawn’s points of view. It was very exciting, and had a lot of build-up and tension to keep the reader hooked, and fully invested in the outcome of the relationship between Andi and Dawn.

Book weaknesses:
I just wish this had been a novel! It happened so quickly that it was all over so fast and I wanted there to be more!!!

Character Chemistry:
I liked the instant attraction between Andi and Dawn, that they were so forward, outspoken, and just going for what they wanted. It made a change to have two strong character personalities coming together like that. Their relationship was interesting as they just seemed made for each other, and that level of understanding and caring that could only really come from characters with life experiences was refreshing.  Tess was my favourite character though. Even though the story wasn’t hers, and nothing was told from her perspective, she was the driving force and the glue of it, and I loved how her character developed throughout the unfolding drama.

A great, exciting novella that makes me really excited to read Amy’s future works!!!

This was epic!

What was the book about?:
The world could be ending, but it’s not too late for Andrea Fielding – acting Prime Minister – to find love, and with none other than her gorgeous bodyguard, Ren Dyer. They embark on an epic adventure of trust, love, and understanding when dealing with a crisis, finding happiness and a little something more in the most dire of times.

Featured Tropes: Workplace Romance, Age Gap, Action Adventure Thriller

Book Strengths:
Claire knows how to deliver a great story, and this was no different. A new story, slightly different genre for Claire yet it was the most epic adventure she has brought us yet, and I now am definitely looking forward to more from Andrea and Ren.

I was practically on the edge of my seat reading this epic adventure, unable to put the book down and highly invested in the characters and their race against time to escape the mayhem and crisis of a terror attack. I was so excited yet found this nail-biting as an experience. Uncertainty lay in each turn of the page, and it wasn’t without its surprises. These characters encounter so much you can’t help but get invested in their story, experiencing everything they go through so intimately, and emotionally becoming connected with each and every one of them and their emotions.

Book weaknesses:
I just need more of this!!! The story was amazing but now two wonderful characters have a future that I need to know about, no matter what it holds.

Character Chemistry:
Ren Dyer is hot – undoubtedly – and her connection with Andrea, and the other characters was strong. She was stubborn, but a natural born leader and she excelled and showing these traits in her behaviour and interactions with each and every character, but she was also respectful. Ren is such an admirable character, the one everyone wants to be, or be with, and she is a total star, but she is vulnerable, and this really shines through from time to time, especially once Andrea starts breaking down her walls.

But it is Andrea who ended up being my favourite character! She’s the older woman, so naturally I adored her, but her kindness, and vulnerability was always on the surface, and even when she stood up to lead. It made her realistic, very human, and relatable and I just loved how much she loved Ren. It was intense!

Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Conclusion: Brilliant! And I can’t wait to read more!!!

I was fascinated!

What was the book about?:
Samantha finds herself offered with helping a Grim Reaper, after accidentally finding herself dead after an incident when she has been surfing early one morning. It’s an offer she couldn’t really refuse, but it doesn’t really turn out to be as simple as it sounded, and it isn’t without consequences.

Featured Tropes: Friends to lovers, paranormal fantasy

Book Strengths:
So I got more than I expected with this book, and I thoroughly enjoyed it because it was different and not what I thought it might be at all. Despite the title eluding to a dark paranormal fantasy, the story is also quite light-hearted but hard-hitting at times, and some scenes (one in particular) were pretty emotional and really made the book for me. You got to see the humility of Sam, yet she had a dry wit and humour, as did the Grim, Margo that added a slightly comical element to the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this and ended up very emotional invested in the characters, hooked on the story, and thrilled by the level of imagine taken to come up with such a unique, and touching story. I was truly entertained, yet really felt a connection emotionally to way death and the dead were perceived by Sam.

Book weaknesses:
Genuinely can’t fault this book at all. Loved every minute, and hoping for more tales from the Grim!

Character Chemistry:
Sam’s relationship with Lauren is very much based on her feeling that her love for Lauren is unrequited and that Lauren isn’t available to her in that capacity, but she still had an amazing connection with her as a friend. It very much takes Lauren to realise how she feels about Sam for their relationship to slowly develop into something past their friendship, but it isn’t without complication when it comes to Sam’s latest situation. They really worked well together, despite the tension. I just loved how down to earth, and relatable Sam’s character was even when she learned of her own death, and how she handled the offer made by Margo to assist her as a Grim Reaper. She took it all surprisingly well to be honest!

Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

An interesting read, with a lot of emotion and a heartfelt storyline dealing with complex events. I really loved this, and hope more will be in this series because there is so much more to see from Sam now! I think Jodi Hutchins is an author to watch, because this was an absolutely fantastic read!

Fast and Thrilling!!!

What was the book about?:
Kat finds herself assigned with looking after the rich daughter of one of her former colleagues, but ends up with a lot more than she bargained for, her hands full, and an action packed adventure on top of it all.

Featured Tropes: Romance, Action

Book Strengths:
Providing a fast paced, exiting adventure with a hint of erotica, Willow gives the reader all the drama and action of a full blow Hollywood blockbuster in a novella. Raven J. Spencer pulls out all the stops to deliver excitement and uncertainty, as Kat and Willow race against time to escape a dangerous situation alive. I was hooked from the very beginning, getting lost in the plot, and wrapped up in the details of the action packed plot.

Book weaknesses:
All I wanna know now is, what’s next for Kat and Willow because this book has set up some pretty interesting possibilities.

Character Chemistry:
Kat and Willow have instant attraction, which is on fire, especially as Kat tries to remain professional and Willow isn’t afraid to be shy with all her flirting and come ons.   Kat was definitely my favourite character, she is a strong woman, with good morals, and a heart of gold, but she is human, and when her feelings show through she is passionate and driven, which really brings her character alive.

A fascinating, exciting, adventure!

What was the book about?:
Royal Olivienne Dracore seeks more than a better place for their people when embarking on an adventure with Commander Castellan Tosh, who is tasked with being the latest person to take charge of guiding, and protecting Olivienne and her team on their quest to find out who their makers were, and where they have gone. But all is not as simple as it seems, especially for Tosh, when Olivienne begins to make sure her feelings for Tosh are known.

Featured Tropes: Romance

Book Strengths:
This was a very intricate story, showcasing just another example of K Aten’s talent to cross genres, try writing new things, and keeping a variety in her storytelling. An adventure with a dystopian, yet futuristic, sci-fi feel was refreshing and built new exciting worlds to explore, mysteries to uncover, and characters to discover and love.

The clever mystery that surrounds Olivienne and Castellan’s adventure was exciting, kept me gripped, and left me wanting to know more. Discovering the secrets they sought was an experience very much for the characters, but also the reader. I was drawn into the story, the power, and the adventure.  It really kept me on my toes.

Book weaknesses:
Although complicated in the language, names, and places of this newly created world, it was really easy to read, and really fitted with the world built.  It did take some getting used to, but the language was clever and fitted well with the premise of the story, making it unique and giving it a rustic, colloquial, old world feel.

Character Chemistry:
Olivienne and Castellan have a tension, both sexual and power based.  They are both strong, independent, confident women and despite clashing a little, their attraction is undeniable, and sizzling just below the surface in a slow burn as they come to terms with their lustful feelings.

Once connected emotionally, their love and dedication to one another is jumping off the page and creating an exciting relationship to accompany the adventure they are already on.

Castellan was strong, powerful, and a wonder of a character. I liked Olivienne, but the emotional connection I got to the conflict Castellan is dealing with in this story really made her my favourite character.

A promising start to what looks to be a very exciting series, looking forward to more.

Just the sweetest and cutest thing I have ever read!

What was the book about?:
Eve is on a family holiday when she meets her ideal woman, but with the prospect she has to return home she isn’t sure what all her feelings for Moira mean and if a future would even be possible, but she dares to hope and dream.

Featured Tropes: Romance, Age Gap

Book Strengths:
This heart-warming romance is packed with all the delicious drama and angst needed to create a passionate, fulfilling, and amazing romance.  Anna Larner has perfectly captured the idea of how a ‘fling’ can be more serious than perhaps intended, and just how magical and strong a true love can be.  Pair it with the beautiful scenery of the Scottish Highlands, and you have the perfect romance.  Also, the capturing of each character was just perfect.  Eve was the ultimate cute, sweet, and sensitive girl, and Moira, a woman with a past and her dialogue really captured that Scottish idioms that brought her to life, and added authenticity to the story.
The plot was laced with an underlying sense of deception that Moira was holding back from Eve and it was so well captured not only in her actions, but in those of Alice, who really added an extra layer of complication to our characters getting that happy ever after they so deserved.

Book weaknesses:
I just got so invested in this story, the emotional journey for both characters that I just couldn’t help but love every second of it, and really felt like I was right there with the characters, experiencing it all from their points of view.

Character Chemistry:
Moira and Eve have an unusual chemistry that was heart-warming, yet heart-breaking at the same time.  They had so much standing in their way, and despite it all they tried to overcome fears, the past, and just dive into romance, especially Eve.  For Moira things weren’t so simple but when she was Eve, we saw such a vulnerable and loving side to her.

I really can’t decide who my favourite character was because in their own unique way both Eve and Moira are loveable.  Eve was such an endearing, slightly awkward, sweetheart that I felt so emotional for everything she was going through, but my empathy towards Moira was so strong, I just think in the end I loved her as much as Eve (it’s the older woman thing!). Eve’s supportive best friend Roxanne helps offer some comic relief and injects such fun that I really couldn’t help myself smiling when they were spending time together, and I loved her loyalty to Ever.

But the character that surprised me the most and that I loved was Alice.  She had such a big part to play, and she had so much to deal with when Eve turned up in Moira’s life.

An emotional read with lots of heart and love!!!

What was the book about?:
Abi meets Greta, a famous actress, whilst working as a make-up artist. They strike up an unusual friendship, both of them attracted to one another but holding back for the sake of their friendship, and especially because Abi doesn’t think Greta feels that way for her. But, when they realise that connection runs deeper than either could have imagined, Greta is caught up in a traumatic plane crash. The complications of the aftermath of the crash change both their lives forever, and even though things will never be the same again, the love Abi and Greta share really is unbreakable.

Featured Tropes: Friends to lovers, Celebrity romance, workplace romance

Book Strengths:
This story is laced with angst, love, drama, romance, and everything in between to build a most epic love story between two women with such a connection it will have you hooked from the very first page. Each time Michelle pens a new story, I am absolutely amazed by the amount of emotion poured in. I cried so much reading this book because I found myself so invested in the characters, their feelings, and the dilemmas they both faced. Greta’s story is heartbreaking, truly, as she learns of the aftermath of her crash and the turmoil she goes through whilst recovering from injury and trying to move on with her life and be happy, as a survivor.

Book weaknesses:
I can’t fault this story. It had everything from angst and drama, to sweet romantic moments, and deep connections that just left me completely invested in the story to the point I could really feel everything the characters went through.

Character Chemistry:
There was something truly unique about Greta and Abi’s relationship. When something has formed from friendship that connection runs so deep. In this story, Michelle had captured that absolutely perfectly. The love these two have for one another can’t be missed!

Heat Rating4.5 Flames

A brilliant new story from Michelle Arnold, with heaps of emotion that will leave you crying with both sadness, and happiness, because if ever there was a perfect example of true love, Greta and Abi are it!!! Highly recommend this book for any romance lovers.

Oh. My. GOD…This book was epic!

What was the book about?:
Clo, and her friend Laura whose lives are both dramatically change when they two women come along and become a part of their lives, that emotionally changes them forever.  An interwoven sequence of events and past secrets make an intricate story of how lives can be altered, and connected even if it is unknown at the time of the meeting.

Featured TropesErotica, Friends to Lovers, Romance, Age Gap

Book Strengths:
Where to start! Literally loved every second of this book and was drawn in and hooked from the very beginning. It is slow to start, but that builds lots of intrigue, and had me wondering and questioning what would happen next. Each character in the fabulous cast has their part to play in adding to the mystery, creating uncertainty, and giving this book a lovely noir feel. I was literally able to see the imagery as I read, as if the story were playing out as a black and white movie, in homage to those Hollywood greats of the golden era, and with all the glamour too.

I was facilitated by intricately woven web that formed this plot, and by the end on the edge of my seat as all was revealed!!! The balance between each characters story was just write, and gave enough for the reader to be able to connect with each and every one of them on an emotional level. Absolutely brilliant.

I have never read a book where I felt like I did reading this.  I was conflicted, my moral conscious telling me how this should be received, and my heart saying ‘shut up! You know you love this twisted plot!’ and it’s true.  So addicted. It was very realistic, and yet completely absurd at the same time, but that’s life; always something waiting to surprise you!

Book weaknesses:
I genuinely can’t fault this book! It is slow burn, intimate, tension building, thrilling, exciting, and yet so deliciously dark in some ways, that I just can’t help but love it!!!

Character Chemistry and favourite character:
Loads of chemistry between the characters, especially Fran and Clo who were definitely my favourites. I mean who doesn’t love an age gap romance, and Fran is so elegant I instantly fell in love with the very idea of her.  Clo was such a mess I could relate, and her crush on Fran, hot damn did I get the instant attraction, and the obsession.  Laura and Susan were a very different dynamic, but that connection between them was so emotionally charged I was totally invested in them.

One of the sweetest stories I have ever read!!!

What was the book about?:
Ruby and Mel couldn’t be more opposite, the lecturer and the injured paramedic who is keeping a secret. Having met by chance when Mel attends a university opening day in the hope of bettering her career qualifications, they instantly have a tension due to matter of opinion, but when Mel can offer Ruby some help with an extra-curricular project, something just starts blossoming.

Featured TropesDiverse characters, friends to lovers, slow burn

Book Strengths:
What I love about Jenn’s stories, is the diversity of the characters she brings us. In this newest story, Jenn explores the difficulties of dyslexia, and the affects this can have on someone’s life. Jenn handles this so sensitively that she brings awareness to readers, whilst promoting positives of dyslexia, and how no one should be judged for something that makes them different. The way this is underlying in the story, causing Mel conflict but not paraded as an excuse gives the story such an insightful depth that as a reader it got me thinking. We would never know the struggles of another unless we are exposed to it. Jenn has not only managed to educate me, but also provide those with dyslexia representation in a story that is so sweet and normal, you’d never stop to think about Mel as anything more than another person – the same as any one of us.

Book weaknesses:
This story was just so sweet that I honestly can’t say there was any part of it I didn’t enjoy.

Character Chemistry:
Ruby and Mel are such realistic characters that the tension between them builds a tense start to a beautiful friendship, and blossoming feelings that slowly emerge as they work together and get to know one another. They have a beautiful way of being together that was heart-warming and unbelievably cute. As slightly older women in their 40’s it was refreshing to see how they connected, even with their life experiences, and sweet they could still be learning something new.

I have to say as much as Ruby was a likeable character, this is Mel’s story. She is truly a wonderful character, an inspirational woman, and someone very much worth admiring.

Romance with a difference for all those who are diverse and need representing. Jenn does a great job with this story and it really is one everyone should read.

Something a bit different, and radical by name and nature.

What was the book about?:

D, an extreme feminist activist is changing her life after getting probation. She has lived a varied life, and now is exploring what she can do to get back some of her individualism because she misses the drive, and the fight of power and control in trying to change the views of those who are challenging her rights because of something they define her as, and think her lifestyle is wrong.

Featured Tropes:

Extreme views and thoughts, changing behaviour and lifestyle, standing up for beliefs.

Book Strengths:

This book was quite the eye-opener, providing a look into the toxic and chaos of a lifestyle with a character who really is to the extreme, but that made the story memorable and engaging. Never a dull moment to be had with D, and her path to self-destruction, after all her hard work to build a lifestyle that pulled her away from the trials and tribulations of her past. It was very interesting to see how she coped with ‘normal’ and how her need to feel less like a failure returns her to the toxic life of her past, obviously with consequences.

Book weaknesses:

I wish there had been a little more insight into the past. Although we had glimpses, it would have been nice to really get to know D, and add to the memoir feel the story held, which was unique and different. As if D had really lived these experiences, and was sharing them in the form of fiction. I really liked this.

Character Chemistry and favourite character:

D’s interactions with the other characters really varied, and I liked how this helped humanise her because she was the extreme. She is a bit of a marmite character, you are either gonna love her, or you are gonna hate her. She speaks her mind, is casual and unforgiving, and she stands up for her beliefs. A little rough around the edges, but I admired her very much. Not so much all of her actions – although understood, but her thoughts and feelings, all very relatable given the circumstances.

Heat Rating: 🔥🔥🔥

I would definitely recommend giving this book a go. It is a light read, with great moments to give you some feeling and connect with D in having a moment of radicalisation in supporting her.

This was SO much fun!

I loved every minute of reading Tanya’s adventure with Elle. In a quirky, humorous, and exciting way that only Annette Mori can provide, every second of this story is magical, fun, and absolutely fantastic.

It has intense moments, funny moments, romantic moments, and very sexy moments. The characters are brilliant, especially the delightful Tanya who is just the cutest book addict ever!!!

When I first saw the title I thought I was in for a book geek romance but I got so much more than that, and I am so happy. Everything about this book was exciting, providing a brilliant adventure that was as addictive as Tanya finds books!!!

What I really want to know though, is where can I get a book magician??????

This really was a fantastic read that I couldn’t put down. I enjoyed every minute of it and highly recommend this book.

The Book Addict by Annette Mori

This was so good!

My first experience reading anything by Wendy Hudson, and I was completely blown away with how amazing this story was. It took up a storyline I haven’t read in this genre before, and I found it refreshing, and realistic, to really capture my attention, and really draw me into the story as if I were in it with the characters.

I loved the fast, intricate, engaging plot, and the complex characters, and the twists, all absolutely brilliant! Main character Darcy, I have so much respect for her, and all she has been through. She finds herself mistrusting, and unlucky in love, as a stalker plays havoc with her life. Luckily, she has Anja, her best friend to support her, and to rely on, but she wants so desperately to be in love, and happy.

Meeting Eilidh gives her hope this might be a possibility, but in a way only life can, everything keeps getting in there way of meeting up again, having a date, and seeing if they are compatible. You really have to admire Darcy for not giving up hope, and because she is just the sweetest, most trusting woman, and she goes through one hell of an ordeal in hope of what she seeks for love.

The story was completely gripping. Combining romance and mystery, with darker elements really worked well to deliver an intense experience for the reader. I started reading, expecting a girl meets girl, falls in love story, but found a dark twist, and adventure waiting for me. I genuinely couldn’t have been happier. I got so engrossed in this story, and seeing it from more than just Darcy’s point of view really gave the story that deeper edge to fascinate me further. Completely invested at every turn of the page, and truly struggled to put this book down because I was so eager for the revelations, and outcome of how it would all come together.

I definitely recommend reading this thrilling romance. It will literally have you on the edge of your seat, keeping you guessing, with all the obscurities that have you, and Darcy questioning everyone around her. When a simple act turns into an exciting action-packed race to uncover the truth before a stalker goes too far!

This was such a fun story to read!

Alyssa gets more than she bargained for when she attends her colleague Mia’s game night, and it really is down to you to decide as you are reading this whether you think she wins or loses! Alyssa’s crush on Mia gets harder and harder for her to keep secret for the night as well, which creates an air of tension between her and some of Mia’s friends, who really make it difficult for Alyssa to hide her feelings.

Mia and her friends really have a unique sense of humour with their game night, leaving little to the imagination and playing for high stakes. It was great reading about Alyssa’s experience of this truly spectacular night.

There are a lot of poker references but it all adds to the tension of the story, and giving the reader the experience as Alyssa truly experiences the games. A very interesting, fun, flirty, and sexy read that was very enjoyable.
